Make Julie Like Juice Month

Well folks! It’s the end of February and my ‘Make Julie Like Juice Month’ instagram challenge was a success!

I won’t lie, there were a few days (maybe 2 or 3) where I DIDN’T get my juice on – but it wasn’t because I didn’t want it. Sometimes pulling out the juicer is a lot more work than you anticipate! haha

I didn’t complete a juice cleanse, all I was doing was adding a juice into my daily routine. (focusing on ADDING things into your diet is a great tactic to crowd out the bad things!) So I didn’t anticipate to see huge differences in my health and wellbeing as a result of this month. BUT I feel like I have had a lot more energy than normal!

Breakfast has always been a toughie for me as I always want to reach for something fast, convenience and easy – like cereal or oatmeal. Since those really aren’t in my diet, juicing has given me a whole new avenue to explore. Before I always had in my mind that I needed to ‘eat’ something for breakfast, not just ‘drink’. But, I’ve come to realize that I can drink a juice and 2-3 hours later have lunch! It all works out. I’d like to think that I’ll keep up trying to juice – maybe not everyday, but definitely a handful of days during the week.

The reason I embarked on this challenge was 2 fold:

1. I never really liked the taste of vegetable juices

2. Since I try to go for mostly cooked veggies (on account of healing my gut), it’s hard in the winter to get in all my greens. I really felt like I was lacking nutrients that my body needed!

Juicing, even though it is raw, breaks down the veggies into its smallest form so it’s easy on the digestive tract. My digestive tract has been a little unsettled this month, but I honestly think it’s because it’s working out all it’s kinks and healing!

juicing instagramchallengeI’ve come to realize that celery juice is kinda gross to me (still), but I’ll keep working on that. haha! That cabbage, kale, swiss chard, spinach, romaine lettuce, and ginger are all deliciously yummy things to juice!

I was surprised by the fact that I really love carrot juice and am starting to like juices that aren’t super sweet (aka mostly veggies).

I still want to work on liking beet juice more and adding in more things like parsley, turmeric (only because it hasn’t been the easiest to find in the super market), and other greens.

I’m excited for the spring and summer seasons as well because different veggies and more fruits will be in season, making them better for juicing!

One of the most BENEFICIAL things I’ve noticed is how juicing impacted days where I had low energy or lots of pain. It TRULY helped my body feel better and ease the pain and inflammation.

Nature’s medicine for sure!

My favorite juices were a tie between:

orangecarrot

Orange, Carrot, Cucumber & Kale

KALELEMON

Kale, Carrot, Cucumber, Apple, Lemon & Ginger

All in all, I can say that my ‘Make Julie Like Juice Month’ instagram challenge was a success and I’m really glad I did it!

Hey, it’s a formula that I know will work… if I don’t like something, I just shove it down my throat everyday for a month and I start to like it 😉 haha!!

Wishing You A Pain Free Day!
