New Year’s is around the corner and let me guess. . . next year you want to exercise more and lose weight?
Was I close?
According to statistic brain, the number 1 2014 new years resolution was to lose weight. 39% people ACHIEVE their resolution, with only 14% achieving their resolution if you’re over 50.
I know that my new years resolutions always surrounded eating less calories, exercising more, ect. I’d make it a month or two and then fall off the wagon. Why? Looking back I believe it was because of a lack of knowledge. I didn’t understand what food and the environment was doing to my body. All I knew was I wanted to loose weight.
I didn’t really think of the difference between the calories in a snickers bar or a salad from Panera. I used a food tracker religiously and if I had 100 calories left at the end of the day, you best believe I was picking the cheese balls over vegetables.
I didn’t realize that not every calorie is equal. I didn’t realize that the nutritional value in the calories really mattered. I didn’t realize they determined if my hormones were out of whack, if my body’s systems were working optimally, if I had headaches or pains, moodiness or acne! Every lifestyle choice we make affects us in some way.
I didn’t realize that Panera wasn’t a great option for me! Hasn’t it been touted as the healthiest fast food chain? I didn’t know that the corn oil that they fry their apple chips in was full of GMOs and I most definitely didn’t know that all of their food is cooked in soybean oil. I didn’t even know there was anything WRONG with corn or soybean oil! And I’m willing to bet you probably don’t either.
The more I think about it, the angrier I get! Because there is SO much the average american doesn’t know, I’ve teamed up with 2 other health coaches to create a new nutrition series at Avani Institute.
Arm yourselves with the KNOWLEDGE behind making certain food choices, identify which types of exercise your body ACTUALLY needs and leave with tips, tricks, resources and recipes. You’ll learn which brands to avoid and which are great! Where you can find the best deals in the area and where to look for the best information.
Our class is for everyone! Regardless if you’ve been a vegan for years or if you stop at McDonald’s three times a week – I guarantee you’ll learn more than you ever thought possible. When we first started putting this series together we were overwhelmed with information to include! It started to seem like a college level course. But, we’ve designed it in a way for you to design the perfect dietary plan and lifestyle for you and your family. We’re all unique and require a unique life plan. We also know it’s not realistic for you to have to cook yourself one meal and your family a whole different meal. There is no “one diet fits all”.
You deserve to live your best possible life so let’s work together to create a LIFESTYLE that is realistic for you and your family.
Does any of this interest you? Then check out the Avani Institute class series:

It seems that each year, we all aim to be healthier, but seem to fall short. Start off 2015 by arming yourself with the most powerful tool you can — knowledge!
Come and learn why GMO’s are not good for you and what other foods you should be avoiding, how all of your choices impact your well-being and how food can be the most powerful medication of them all. Explore different dietary theories and identify which fits best for you and your life. Leave with resources, tools and support to implement a healthy lifestyle.
This class series is a collaboration between Tracey Eakin, Gianna Thomas and Julie Cerrone, three health coaches with three very different backgrounds. Each class builds on the previous one to create a crash course for wellness.
Don’t get stuck in diet fads. Make yourself a priority this year, and create a healthy lifestyle for you and your family.
This is a series of 4 classes, Jan 12, 26 and Feb 9, 23 from 7-9pm.
Each class builds on the previous one, so it is strongly recommended that participants attend every class.
The whole series can be purchased for $130, or can individually be purchased for $35 per class.
