Orange You Glad I Didn’t Say Banana!

After I talked to my health coach about how bananas caused me to have bad headaches, he speculated that I have type A blood type.

eldonbloodtypechartThis year I’ve been curious to see what type blood I do have. My Mom said that when I was born there was a discussion about my blood type and how I was likely a direct descendent of italian heritage. Probably explains my super curly hair 😉

Anyways, I asked all my doctors- even the ones that performed surgery on me- and no one could tell me what my blood type was! Worse yet, no one would write me a test to get my blood type taken.

I ended up buying two tests online that you prick your own finger and test your own blood. My test said that I was A +. My Dad took the other and it said he was O. Later on that week my Dad found his blood donor card which said he was AB blood type! So I haven’t put too much validity into that test.

Any who – My health coach said that since bananas bothered me, oranges and tomatoes would most likely bother me as well. I looked up oranges on the Eat Right For Your Blood Type site and it confirmed that type A blood type should stay away from oranges.

This week I’ve been trying to incorporate oranges into my diet to see how they fair. I ate 2 oranges on Saturday and on Sunday and Monday I had bad stomach aches. I wasn’t sure if they were related so I was curious to see what would happen when I ate them again. Wednesday I ate another orange, but never received a stomach ache. After juicing the oranges I also never received a stomach ache. I’m thinking the stomach aches were a fluke. What I HAVE been experiencing this week is crippling pain and stiffness. I, again, am not sure if it’s the oranges or if it’s possibly the 8 degree weather outside. I guess I will find out next week when the weather changes yet again…. one of the lovely benefits of living in Pittsburgh, PA!

So for this upcoming week I’m going to

1. Buy another blood type test (haha!)

2. Watch to see how my joints feel when I don’t have oranges in my system

3. Start to incorporate tomatoes into my diet — I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE AND MISS TOMATOES!!!

Wishing you a pain free day!
